Ride – Sunday 9th December

Next Ride Sunday the 9th Dec along the logging trail at the far end of Labi Road. The aim is to find a route through to the border and meet up with the logging tracks in Sarawak. See google earth picture on previous post with the blue trail. At this time of year chances are slim and the ride will most probably be man and machine vā€™s Mud, so plan for a long day out and either way it it will be a good one!
So far we have myself, Roy and Ken signed up hope others can make it?

Fire Tower trail

Well, this weekend was a bit of a washout. Not too many keen to go riding (or more correctly not many around to go riding). As it happened, just 2 of us went out on Sunday for a short ride. It was shortened even further due to the fact that the back road into the sawmill area had been washed away, or the only remaining piece was completely closed off by rattan that had fallen across the trail. For those of you who have never had the pleasure of meeting the barbs/thorns from this plant, it is most unpleasant. Has been known to catch and pull a man right off his bike…and a big man at that too (yes, you know who you are)! We’ll have to venture in next time with some heavy gloves, a parang or chainsaw (Ant – where are you??). If we get much more rain, the other trails will get further washed away. As it stand now, some are not passable. We could also take some spades in and fill in some of the washed away sections. This would give us just enough to get by. This coming weekend will be a quiet one on the riding front. St. Andrews night on Saturday pretty much rules out any people capable of holding a bike up straight enough on the Sunday. Till next time

Tutong MX Track

Okay folks – on heading out to the airport, I noticed that the MX track in Tutong is starting to look a little overgrown. No idea what the rest of the track looked like, but the large table top certainly had a good growth of foliage. I’m guessing the rest of the track is in the same or worse state. That leaves us with a few options:-

1. Let it continue to fall into a state of disrepair and wait for the next Brunei National MX event.
2. Get our bikes out there and ride the track on a regular basis to keep growth to a minimum.
3. Hire a team of grass cutters to get out there and clean it up.
4. Get ADDAnt out there with some tools to sort it out

I figure option 2 is the best. The downside is that we are in the wet season, good chance the place is pretty well flooded on occassion, riding time from now until the new year is somewhat limited. Lets try and work out sometime to at least go down and take a look. If anyone has an opportunity to stop by and take a closer look, please post an update as to its current state.

Ok – so here we go. A few pics from recent rides. Not the greatest quality, but all I could manage with the small pocket camera

Bukit Lumut

A good place to go for a quick ride. Some interesting technical bits and some places to fall off. Hill I slid down, and a pic nanoseconds before Roy’s big get off. Travis would have been proud šŸ˜‰

Roy - before he bites it!

Hey guys and girls!

Last weekend’s ride was fantastic. We all had a great time in the jungle especially that road with a bit of speed – was like a roller coaster.

Saturday night was a bit of a disaster though as my little Jeep let me down and everyone at the cabin was getting very worried….. about their bloody pots and pans I had so they could cook dinner!! So after a while they sent a search party so they could eat!!! Thanks guys, glad you missed me!! So dinner was shite, but we had a real good breakfast!!

The next morning I woke up to very bad sounds followed by very bad smells, nude bodies and singing but it was great because no one gave a toss!!

[editor – censored to protect some ‘dumbass’ from public ridicule ;)]

We then went for our ride in some jungle somewhere that led us till lunch time to a little village [Kpg. Sukang] by the river. So we parked up and talked shite for a while and watched two little boys playing with some cheap overpowered Chinese fireworks. A nice we spot to relax and refuel our bodies and bikes to go to the next stage of our journey.

The next stage of our journey was short for someone, should I mention names? Hell Yes – Roy!! Roy got a flat tyre but was told that there were levers in my tool box but guess his ears were full of wax and he did not hear so he put his bike on the truck right beside the tool box with the tyre levers!! What would you do if you had seen a tool box on a support vehicle? But anyway thanks to the Cricket Club’s cooler box we put his bike up on it and fixed it. And mine too, as I got one on the way back from the long house at Kpg. Melilas!

Anyway, it was great ride with a good bunch of guys and I would like to give a special thanks to the two Richards – for dealing with our cabin and keys and other bits and pieces and also for keeping us alive by driving the supply truck and job well done. Thanks to Ellie for keeping him company (we couldn’t have made it without the support crew!), and the guys that made the long journey from Bandar. A big thanks to the woman with no teeth as it kept our conversation going on Saturday night!

Right favour time!! We need some sort of website now [done – this is it] as I am getting lots of interest and have more names that you guys don’t see, etc. I would like something that everyone can put their ideas and things to do so none of us miss out. I now have over 20 names and emails, so could someone help [quit whining – its done!]? Also Jan wants a copy of the DVD on how to improve your riding etc so could someone burn a copy for me as the original is still in Bandar [can do].
